Cancer News
We are delighted to inform that the prostate cancer screening for patients has been a great success. We sent over a few thousand invitations for patients to have blood tests well before Sir Chris Hoy came out with his terminal prostate diagnosis. We are also delighted with the massive uptake of the blood test by our patients, and even more increased uptake after Sir Chris announced his condition to the media.
Global IT issue affecting GP practices and pharmacies nationally
We are aware of a global IT issue which is affecting some primary care services in our region. It may be necessary for GP practices to rearrange appointments as they manage this issue. If you have an appointment booked you should attend as planned unless you are advised otherwise. Work is ongoing to resolve the issue as quickly as possible.

The elderly experience loss and grief as they begin to have a diminished ability in activities of daily living. This then can cause the elderly to lose a sense of purpose. Many elderly also have difficulty when they can no longer live independently.
The Pharmacy First Service
The Pharmacy First Service incorporates the previous Community Pharmacist Consultation Service (CPCS), building on it to enable community pharmacists to complete full episodes of care for patients with 7 clinical conditions (see table below) by providing self care and safety netting advice, OTC medicines and where appropriate following detailed clinical pathways supply prescription only medicines via patient group directions.
